Baseline Emissions Footprint

Baseline emissions are a record of the greenhouse gases that have been produced in the past and were produced prior to the introduction of any strategies to reduce emissions. Baseline emissions are the reference point against which emissions reduction can be measured.

This is the first iteration of NextGen’s Carbon Reduction Plan (CRP1.0). Our baseline figures will be updated as we establish internal processes for collating emissions data. The company’s financial year runs April to March, so in accordance with standard reporting requirements for a CRP, we will complete our baseline figures by October 2023.

Emissions reduction targets  

Once we have completed calculating our baseline figures, we will be in a position to assess what action we can take and how quickly we can progress to achieving Net Zero. When we complete our final baseline figures we will we adopt carbon reduction targets, which we will be able to report against in the 2023-24 iteration of our Carbon Reduction Plan. We will project the amount carbon emissions will decrease over five years in tCO2e by 2028-29 and the percentage reduction that it represents.

Carbon Reduction Projects

While our baseline figures are being established for 2022-23, we will research and implement viable options for environmental management and projects to reduce our carbon emissions. We will report the amount of tCO2e, and the percentage reduction against the 2022-23 baseline in effect when performing the contract .

Declaration and Sign Off

This Carbon Reduction Plan has been completed in accordance with PPN 06/21 and associated guidance and reporting standard for Carbon Reduction Plans. Emissions have been reported and recorded in accordance with the published reporting standard for Carbon Reduction Plans and the GHG Reporting Protocol corporate standard (*1) and uses the appropriate Government emission conversion factors for greenhouse gas company reporting (*2). Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions have been reported in accordance with SECR requirements, and the required subset of Scope 3 emissions will be reported in accordance with the published reporting standard for Carbon Reduction Plans and the Corporate Value Chain (Scope 3) Standard (*3).

This Carbon Reduction Plan has been reviewed and signed off by the board of directors (or equivalent management body).
